本学の交換留学生が、12月8日、麻薬及び向精神薬取締法違反の容疑により起訴されました。
交換留学生は、来日前に日本への持ち込み薬物に関する情報提供を受けた上で、法令遵守の誓約書に署名をしております。また、来日後のオリエンテーションでも、再度法令遵守の呼びかけと指導を行っていたにも関わらず、このような事案が発生したことは大変遺憾であり、関係者のみなさまに多大なご迷惑とご心配をおかけしましたことをお詫び申しあげます。
今後は裁判の行方を見守り、関係機関と連携し対応いたします。本件事実関係を詳細に把握した上、交換留学生等の受け入れにあたって、日本における違法薬物に関する教育の徹底に取り組んでまいります。

On 8 December 2023, an exchange student currently studying at Kwansei Gakuin University was indicted for violation of Japan’s Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Law.
Kwansei Gakuin University advises all incoming exchange students, prior to arrival, with information on bringing medication and prescription drugs into Japan and requires them to sign a written pledge to comply with Japanese laws and regulations for the duration of their time spent in the country. Students are also reminded about said rules during the onsite orientation. Despite our efforts to repeatedly instruct students on compliance with laws and regulations before and upon arrival in Japan, we sincerely regret the occurrence of this incident.
We will continue to fully cooperate with relevant authorities and observe the course of the trial. In order to ensure that all exchange students are thoroughly informed of Japanese laws and regulations, including, but not limited to medication and prescription drugs, Kwansei Gakuin University will continue to work to understand the ongoing case in detail, and review current procedures for accepting incoming exchange students.
