● What you learned from the internship program / インターンシップでの学び
I was assigned to monitor the ongoing COP29 and identify the key outcomes and conclusions that are relevant to UNICEF’s mandate and provided updates to the team. The purpose of this assignment is that the office remains informed and engaged in global climate dialogues, allowing them to connect the dots between international events and UNICEF’s work.
I found this task quite challenging because the COP29 agenda is very broad and not specifically tailored to UNICEF's work. As a result, I had limited knowledge of UNICEF's scope in this context. To address this, I frequently visited UNICEF’s website, reviewed previous COP outcomes published there, and worked to connect these with the COP29 agenda to identify the most relevant topics such as one of the key outcomes was New Climate Finance which agreed to triple the amount from $100billion to $300billion, this might be a chance for UNICEF to come up with more ambitious climate initiatives as UNICEF been recently accredited by GCF on October, 2024.

●The linkage between the internship program and UNFA Course contents / 国連・外交コース授業での学びとインターンシップ
One of my key assignments was to monitor COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and highlight outcomes relevant to UNICEF’s mission. This task was both complex and dynamic, given the breadth of the agenda. However, I was well-prepared thanks to the Environmental Policy course taught by Professor Kukita on Global Environmental Policy. The course provided a comprehensive understanding of climate-related issues, including the Conference of the Parties (COP) process, which enabled me to approach this assignment with confidence and efficiency. My prior knowledge of climate change and multilateral negotiations made navigating this task seamless and fulfilling.
I can now relate and understand more from what I learned from Management of International Organization. My curiosity about the complexities of UN agency operations has been answered, particularly how they are financed for internal operation and how their programs funded to achieve their objectives. In terms of UNICEF operational fund for all country offices has been managed by the headquarter in New York but for their different program and initiatives which are not under budget is their responsibility to seek from other country offices. In the case of Seoul Office, they are responsible to mobilize resource and to assist other countries to fund their programs from financial resources they mobilize from Korean Government.

●Future career plan / 将来の目標、キャリアプラン
I now aspire to work within UN agencies to influence international frameworks that prioritize fairness and community-led solutions. My goal is to leverage my experience in public administration and my passion for climate advocacy to bridge the gap between global policy and local action, ensuring that initiatives address the needs of the most vulnerable populations, particularly in Small Island Developing States.
After completing this internship at UNICEF, it encourages me to widen my perspective in my future career plans and strengthened my interest in opportunities in UNICEF and other UN agencies particularly those focusing on climate change but I prefer to work as a National Professional.

●What you thought after the internship / インターンシップに参加しての感想
The most interesting part of the internship is to learn on the job where you can understand the processes of how things been managed and operated at UNICEF from the perspective of international organizations. The other interesting experience was exploring areas and resources which only for UNICEF and not for the public to access. There are free online courses to enhance individual skills which are very useful to expand their knowledge of office norms, and for capacity building. I was able to complete some courses such as Ethics and Integrity, Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Abuse of Authority and so forth. Other Opportunities from the internship was to attend climate forums and workshops where you learn about countries experiences from the impact of climate change and understanding their challenges based on their lessons learnt and how they cope with the situation.
