皆さん、こんにちは。
2023年4月から関西学院大学国際学部の宣教師（宣教パートナー）と教員として着任しました。生まれ育った関西からの一周、長い年月を経てここにまた辿り着きました。 カナダのブリティッシュコロンビア州バンクーバーで学び、働き、家族を育ててきました。私のキャリアの焦点は持続可能性です。具体的にはコミュニティー健康学 （Community Health）、エコ神学 (Eco-theology)、和解 (reconciliation)、環境正義(Ecojustice)にあります。私の情熱は、人々と居場所、コミュニティーと生態系の健全性、リーダーシップ、若者と市民の関与、そしてエキュメニカルと宗教間関係です。私は自然が大好きです。身体と心のほぐしには山登りと森林浴、それか海と湖での泳ぎを楽しみます。

私たちは現在、気候変動と気候正義、世界的な移住、継続する植民地主義、政府の政策と法律、政治、異文化間関係、交差性 （Intersectionality）、人種差別、人権、マイノリティ問題などに続いて取り組もうとしている困難な時期にいます。 考えられる原因についての理解を深め、より持続可能で公正で平和な世界を実現するためのベストプラクティスが必要です。 私の研究の焦点は気候正義、生態系/コミュニティーの健康、異文化関係と人権、信仰に基づく正義の取り組みの分野にあります。私は読書や振り返り、小グループや大規模なクラス内ディスカッション、プレゼンテーション、同僚からのフィードバックなどの機会を設けて指導を促進するアプローチをとっています。たくさん疑問を抱いて、たくさん質問してください。 学生の皆さんは今、学問における冒険の人生を送っているのだから。

Hello everyone! My appointment as Missionary (mission partner) and faculty member at the School of International Studies, Kwansei Gakuin University, started in April, 2023. I have come full circle, back in Kansai where I was born and raised, arriving here after many years of learning, working, and raising a family in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. My career focus has been on sustainability, namely, community health, eco-theology, reconciliation, and ecological justice. My passions are people and places, communities and ecosystem health, leadership, youth and citizen engagement, and ecumenical and interfaith relations. I love the outdoors, and for selfcare I like to hike in the mountains and forests, or jump in lakes or oceans for a swim.

We are in challenging times continuing to try to grapple with issues such as climate change and climate justice, global migration, continuing colonialism, government policies and legislation, politics, intercultural relations, intersectionality, racism, human rights and minority issues. There is a need for greater understanding about possible causes and for best practices for a more sustainable, just, and peaceful world. Research focus will be in the areas of climate justice, ecosystem/community health, intercultural relations and human rights, and faith-based justice initiatives. I take a facilitative approach to teaching with opportunities for readings and reflections, small group and larger in-class discussions, presentations, and peer feedback. It’s ok to wonder, it’s ok to ask questions. As students, you are presently living the life of adventure in learning!
