NHK, ETVなどで度々その実像が紹介されている沖縄の彫刻家金城実氏を招いて講演会を開催する。金城氏は長年高校の英語教師をしながら彫刻という媒体でその表現活動をして来られた。そのテーマは戦争、平和、そして人間解放などです。金城氏の表現活動を通して問題提起される沖縄の基地の問題、若者の抱える問題、沖縄と本土の人びとの認識のずれ、それを克服する望ましい関係性構築に向けてその長年の｢哲学｣などを語ってもらう。そしてこのグローバルな時代に芸術と教育が未来志向的な平和構築、文化構築のために何ができるのかということを考える場にご参加ください。事前予約不要です。
Minoru Kinjo is a well-known artist who was born in Okinawa. He has been involved in various social and political debates relating to Okinawa, including the issues of US bases there, and discrimination against Okinawa and Okinawans in mainland Japan.
His life’s work has been to ask whether art can be used as a “tool” to bring about peace and liberation for oppressed people. Participants in the event will be able to consider their own potential roles in social transformation.No reservation is necessary.
