Riko Satake, a second-year master's student at the Graduate School of Science and Technology (Shinsuke Fujiwara Laboratory, School of Biological and Environmental Sciences), received the Excellent Poster Award at the International Conference on the Biological Roles of Polyamines 2024 / 7th Yamada Symposium on August 29th, 2024, at the Kobe Ariston Hotel, Shin-Sho Hall. This award is given to seven poster presenters selected from among all postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers attending the conference. Her research focused on the interesting role of branched-chain polyamines in the survival of hyperthermophiles under cold temperature stress. The novelty of her study was recognized for presenting data on a cell membrane stabilization strategy by branched-chain polyamines, a strategy likely employed by primitive life forms. Further research is expected to elucidate the detailed mechanisms involved."
