IEFL, Stephen McNamara, Kwansei Gakuin University, Language Center, gave a presentation on Cognitive Discourse Functions in an Intercultural Studies Learning Unit at the SLTED Second Language Teacher Education Conference 2024, which was held from 2024/9/4 to 2024/9/6 in Brno, Czech Republic. SLTED is a teacher-training focused conference, where second language learning in the EU is discussed. The conference had its inception in 2022 at the University of Vienna, and is rapidly becoming an important pedagogical forum within central EU. Around 100 researchers from around 20 countries gathered to give presentations and hold discussions. There were lively debates, but the conference was overall very supportiva and collaborative. Some of the global leaders in second language pedagogy presented as keynote speakers.
