Associate Professor Sachi Ando Gives Presentation on Psychosocial Preparedness for Future Disasters at the 28th IFSW Asia Pacific Social Work Conference
Associate Professor Sachi Ando of the School of Human Welfare Studies gave a presentation on Psychosocial Preparedness from Community Loss at the 28th IFSW Asia Pacific Social Work Conference, which was held from November 18 to 20, 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. IFSW Asia Pacific Social Work Conference is an academic meeting organized by the Asia Pacific regional chapter of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), and this year's theme was "Social Work Responses to Climate Change and other Environmental Issues." About 175 participants representing over 30 countries and regions gathered to give presentations and hold discussion. It reaffirmed the importance of the international community working together through collaboration and partnership from a social work perspective that places human rights and social justice at the center of responses to climate change and environmental challenges. It was such an inspiring conference where I could truly feel the solidarity of professional social workers across nations committed to promoting the wellbeing of both people and the environment.
