Prof. M. Tanimizu, School Bio&Env Sci. Gives Presentation on detection of deep-seated groundwater injection to shallow aquifer through Li-B isotope systematics at IAH2025

Prof. M. Tanimizu, School of Biology and Environmetal Sciences, presented the analytical method and applications for highly sensitive detection of deep-seated groundwater injection to shallow groundwater by Li-B isotope systematics at International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) 2025 held in Melbourne, Australia, from September 15, 2025 to September 19, 2025. Research reports analyzing groundwater from physical, chemical, biological, and geoscientific perspectives using various methods were discussed by over 500 researchers from numerous countries attending the conference. Particularly in the session addressing changes in coastal groundwater quality and flow direction due to sea level rise associated with global warming, active discussions took place regarding the importance of groundwater as a water resource and the critical issues that need to be resolved in the future.
