Professor, Jumpei Hamamura, School of Business Administration Gives Presentation on Target setting for board members and the effect of difficult targets on managerial compensation in Japan at The Thirteenth International Conference of the Journal of International Accounting Research
Professor Jumpei Hamamura, School of Business Administration, gave a presentation on "Target setting for board members and the effect of difficult targets on managerial compensation in Japan" at The Thirteenth International Conference of the Journal of International Accounting Research, which was held from June 25 to June 28, 2026, in Seoul, Korea (hosted at Korea University Business School).
The Journal of International Accounting Research (JIAR) Conference is an academic conference organized by the American Accounting Association's Journal of International Accounting Research. Its goal is to expand the diversity and scope of international accounting research by deepening understanding of the challenges and opportunities in international accounting, and to provide academics, practitioners, and regulators with fresh insights through original and rigorous research examining how accounting information affects capital market participants. The conference was organized through an open call for papers, with submissions accepted along two tracks—Plenary Session submissions (with selected papers considered for publication in the journal) and Concurrent Session submissions (for conference presentation only)—following a review process leading up to the 2026 event. Researchers from universities and institutions around the world gathered to give presentations and hold discussions.
There were lively debates, and researchers from many countries exchanged ideas on cutting-edge international accounting research; the conference also featured a Doctoral and Early Career Consortium, giving young researchers the opportunity to engage directly with leading scholars in the field.
