Benjamin Neil Smith (School of Economics, IEFL) gave a presentation on Teacher Wait-time in the Japanese EFL Classroom at the 45th Thailand TESOL International Conference, which was held from January 30th to January 31st, 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. The 45th Thailand TESOL International Conference is an annual gathering of English language educators, researchers and practitioners that offers an opportunity to meet with experts in the field and exchange ideas, philosophies and best practices related to language teaching, and teaching more generally. Researchers and educators from over ten countries gathered to give presentations and hold discussions. Participants engaged in discussions, debates and workshops regarding the field of English language education, and presentations took on innovative and practical approaches to the applications and management of modern technology in the classroom, as well as a range of topics from learner and teacher autonomy to corrective feedback.
