KGU Glee Club Performs “U Boj, U Boj”at the Osaka Expo 2025 for Croatia National Day

gleeclub On September 21, 83 current members and alumni of the KGU Glee Club were invited to Croatia’s National Day at the Osaka Expo, where they gave a performance of the beloved Croatian song “U Boj, U Boj” in front of an audience that included Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. National Days at the Expo were held to showcase the traditional music, dance and cuisine of the various countries, regions and international organizations participating from around the world, and Croatia’s National Day was attended by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Minister for International Expositions Yoshitaka Ito, other officials and members of the public. During the ceremony, the students performed the national anthems of both Croatia and Japan, as well as “U Boj, U Boj.” This song was passed down to the university’s Glee Club by soldiers from Czechoslovakia and has been sung for over 100 years. Consequently, a long-standing exchange has been maintained, with the Croatian Ambassador to Japan attending the Glee Club’s concerts on numerous occasions. The performance by the Glee Club, Japan’s longest-established male choir, was met with thunderous applause and shouts of “Bravo!” from the audience.
