Outbound Programs

Global Challenge
Kwansei Gakuin University introduced the Global Challenge System in 2024, with the aim of nurturing students’ initiative, fortitude, understanding of diversity, and their ability to take on challenges, all skills that are essential for survival in a globally competitive society. The Global Challenge System strongly encourages all students to attempt the challenges of the International Program, which consists of overseas study programs such as study abroad and international volunteer work, as well as courses that are taught with international students on and off campus (integrated courses). KGU has concluded agreements with more than 320 universities and international organizations in 59 countries and regions, and has a wide range of study abroad programs that enable students to study at overseas universities in diverse cultures and spheres of life. KGU also offers a number of integrated courses in which students learn through discussions and fieldwork with international students both on and off campus.
The hope is that that each and every student at KGU will develop their own potential by participating in the International Program, and cultivate the ability to become World Citizens who embody the school motto of Mastery for Service.
Double Degree Study Abroad
The Double Degree Study Abroad system allows students to study at an overseas university while enrolled at the KGU School of International Studies, and to obtain degrees from both universities via mutual accreditation of credits earned at both universities. By studying at both a Japanese university and an overseas university, students will acquire a multifaceted and international perspective. This system is particularly attractive to students who wish to play an active role at the forefront of international society, such as going on to study at overseas graduate schools or finding employment at foreign-affiliated companies or international organizations. At present, the following departments at partner universities accept KGU students through this system.
- The University of Queensland Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (Australia)
- Mount Allison University, Politics and International Relations Department (Canada)
- University of Victoria, The Peter B. Gustavson School of Business (Canada)
