Contemporary Japan Program (CJP)

The Contemporary Japan Program is specially designed for incoming exchange students. Students are offered a choice between two study tracks which will define the main focus of their time at KGU: the “Japanese Language Track,” for students who want to focus on language studies, and the “Modern Japan Track,” for students who want to learn more about Japan in English. Exchange students can also select elective courses to learn more about contemporary Japan from a variety of perspectives, such as language, culture, society, the economy, and politics.

Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Study Program (Summer & Winter)

The Center for Japanese Language Education at Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU) welcomes students from our partner institutions to join the Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Study Program every summer and winter. The three-week program is designed for those who wish to improve their communication skills in the Japanese language while increasing their understanding of Japanese culture through a variety of activities. This is a great opportunity for you to add a global experience to your studies. Come and join us to learn more about Japan with people from all over the world!

KGU Winter School

The Center for International Education and Collaboration at Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU) welcomes students from our partner universities to join the KGU Japan Studies Program. This three-week program is designed for students who wish to study about "Cool Japan," which includes contemporary Japanese culture and products such as animation, manga, games, and Japanese traditional cuisine and commodities. Through lessons taught entirely in English, you will learn about Japan's cultural and creative industries that shape "Cool Japan" from a business studies and social sciences perspective, while classes on Japanese culture will examine the roots of Japan's popularity branded as "Cool Japan. " In addition to the regular classes, students in this program will deepen their understanding of Japan during field trips to Japan's cultural industries and historically rich places in kansai area. Come and join us on our historic campus, and meet and study with friends from all over the world!

KGU Summer School

The KGU Summer School is a joint program run by Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU) and our selected partner institutions. This five-week program offers the East Asian Study track - you can select courses that suit your interest, allowing you to study a variety of topics related to Japan and East Asia along with KGU students. Courses are taught by KGU faculty and visiting professors from our partner institutions, covering a wide range of topics that explore many different aspects of Asia. Students participating in this program will benefit greatly, not only academically, but also from the cultural exchange experience. Come and join us this summer, and be inspired by people you will meet from all over the world and create lasting memories at KGU!

Cross-Cultural College (CCC)

The Cross-Cultural College is a collaborative education project jointly run by King's University College at Western University, Mount Allison University, Queen's University, University of Toronto, and KGU. The program aims to educate students to become world citizens and leaders who can contribute to the growth and sustainability of a globalizing world with cross-cultural understanding and communication skills. Along with the benefits of acquiring various skills, the program features two core courses for students to participate in internships, and problem-solving activities related to business. An emphasis on teamwork provides opportunities to develop international networks, and nurtures active young people to become world citizens and leaders.
