Graduate School of Policy Studies

Aiming to Foster Experts for Policy Analysis and Policymaking
With the fundamental principle of "coexistence between human and nature, and coexistence among people," the Graduate School of Policy Studies aims to develop students' highly advanced pragmatic abilities to create comprehensive views of issues in modern society, in order to identify problems and make policies. The goal of the school is to nurture researchers and highly professional workers with sufficient expertise who can take on the roles of leaders in various fields in society.
To achieve this goal, in the first stage of the doctoral program (the master’s course), students will deepen their logical understanding of policy making and evaluation, and master multifaceted research methods to identify and solve problems. At the same time, students will acquire practical and professional policy-making skills by working on concrete research projects that mentors in different fields of expertise are in charge of. In the second stage of the program (the doctorate course), the school aims to foster dedicated researchers who can elucidate various problems in modern society to come up with innovative ideas for solutions, based on logical viewpoints, multifaceted research methods, and the practical training obtained and provided in the first stage of the program. Students will receive guidance on the path to obtain doctorate degrees, and instructions on research to work on their dissertations.
