講演タイトル：　Improving the Cultural Generalizability of Positive Psychology: Examples of Research Programs in non-WEIRD and Asian Societies

要旨：　One of the prevailing criticisms in the field of positive psychology involves the predominance of theories and studies that characterize psychological strengths, positive states, and well-being outcomes in Western, educated, industrialized, rich, and democratic (WEIRD) societies. However, as many individuals are embedded in non-WEIRD cultural contexts, it is important to explore the relevance and applicability of positive psychological theories and constructs in such sociocultural settings. This talk describes broad strategies to enhance the generalizability of positive psychology in societies that are underrepresented and marginalized in the extant literature. It specifically emphasizes how integrating cultural perspectives might strengthen the applicability of specific positive psychological constructs such as grit, hope, and gratitude especially in collectivist settings. This sharing concludes with an elaboration on possible future scholarly initiatives to reinforce the validity, nomological network, and psychological payoffs of culturally sensitive models of positive psychological constructs in non-WEIRD contexts.
